Director of Projects

Select People Solutions is excited to be working with our Lethbridge-based manufacturing client to find their new Director of Projects. The ideal candidate
provides leadership and accountability for how projects are structured, staffed, procured, and delivered, ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration and disciplined execution. This role also contributes to organizational growth and market presence through selective industry engagement and relationship development.

• The rate of pay will be $110K/year

• Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to a team of Project Managers and Estimators
• Oversee project scope, schedules, and delivery at a portfolio level
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex risks, conflicts, and performance concerns
• Ensure estimates accurately reflect scope, fabrication, installation, and risk
• Drive continuous improvement through post-project reviews and feedback
• Define procurement requirements and manage critical materials
• Align procurement with project, fabrication, and installation teams
• Set performance standards, balance workloads, and align staffing with demand
• Coach, develop, and evaluate team members based on outcomes
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training
• Foster a structured, accountable, high-performance team culture

• Minimum of 8 years of construction management or structural steel management experience
• Proven leadership experience overseeing project managers and/or estimators
• Comprehensive understanding of steel fabrication, installation, and procurement processes
• A strong track record of managing complex schedules, mitigating risk, and leading cross-functional teams
• Confident leader with strong communication and organizational strengths

• Oversight of estimation, project execution and procurement functions
• Proficiency with project management and estimating software
• Alberta construction experience with knowledge of local regulations, trades, codes, and regulatory requirements
