What avenues can your business take to diversify your workforce and fill employment gaps with qualified individuals? Perhaps it involves hiring an employee who is new to Canada, or maybe hiring someone with a disability?
Join the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, along with Immigration lawyer Mark Holthe and Sharon Rempel from the Southern Alberta Community Living Association, for a discussion that will inform and get you thinking outside the box!
Mark Holthe, a Canadian Immigration lawyer with Stringam LLP, will discuss updates to immigration laws and what you need to know when hiring a temporary foreign worker.
Mark will cover a variety of topics including Foreign Worker Program Basics, Creative Work Permit Strategies, How to retain your foreign workers long term, and Employer Compliance and Immigration Inspections. There will also be time for Q & A.
Sharon Rempel of SACLA has spent the last six months researching the labour market in regards to those who are the most unlikely to be considered for competitive employment. This research has led to the development of a social innovation project called Catalyst which aims to provide significant service to employers related to diversity and inclusion consulting, training, recruitment and retention.
In her short session, Sharon will present research, concept assumptions and potential value propositions for employers who want to tap into a diverse and untapped labour market. The intent of this session is to obtain direct feedback to design services for employers that work to address barriers, solutions and opportunities for diverse and inclusive hiring.Tell a Friend
