• Message from the Outgoing Chair: Jared Cox

It is hard to believe that my involvement with the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce began 6 years ago. I still remember the day I was approached by a Past President to get involved in committee work. Being only 24, I had plenty of time on my hands and did not think much of it, other than it would be a good way to get involved in the community as I had watched my family and business partners do for many years.

As things tend to progress, one thing led to the next and I found myself as Chair of The Board at the age of 29. With two young kids and my lovely wife Jaime, the abundance of time I once had was quickly withering away. Thankfully, the previous boards made a very important strategic decision when we hired Cyndi Vos as our CEO back in 2019.

Cyndi’s leadership and ability to pivot, adapt and overcome challenges has been insurmountable in the continued success of the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce. At the onset of the year, we thought we may have to continue to address COVID in some capacity but did not anticipate it still being the dominant economic challenge many of our members and The Chamber itself would continue to face. The board and Cyndi were able to lead The Chamber through undoubtedly one of the most difficult challenges in recent times, transitioning almost all our event driven schedule from in-person to online, all while increasing the membership engagement throughout.

I want to sincerely thank Cyndi, the staff, my fellow board members, our volunteers, and the membership for supporting the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and enabling us to achieve success and growth throughout this past year.

Finally, I want to welcome the new Chair of the Board, Richard Westlund and thank him for his dedication and service to The Chamber, past and present. I look forward to watching The Chamber continue to thrive under Richard and Cyndi’s leadership.
