Lead Hands (Lethbridge, Taber, Vauxhall, Bow Island)

Are you a reliable, hardworking, and personable trailblazer looking to help feed the world? Select is starting the search for Lead Hands for our 2023 Summer Agricultural projects. As a Lead Hand, you will be responsible for overseeing a crew of roguers in various Southern Alberta agricultural fields.

• The rate of pay will be $ 21/hr. with the possibility of overtime
• Hours will vary dependent on weather and the growing season

• Supervising a team of roguers and keeping them motivated during the season
• Ensuring all health, safety and performance standards are met with excellence
• Accurately tracking and reporting attendance, incidents, and deficiencies using various means of technology
• Providing First Aid if necessary (we provide you with certified training)
• Keeping all stock items and reporting shortages, or replenishing as needed
• If applicable driving to and from the fields, towing portable toilets and bringing extra stock for crews; maintaining company vehicle
• Keeping your crew safe and reporting all changes in weather to the Field Manager

• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Tech savvy – ability to learn how to use different apps and means of communication and reporting
• Ability to commit to the entire project (Monday – Saturday commitment with possible overtime or earlier starts. Be prepared for June, July and potentially August work, this is dependent on crew and not guaranteed to work fulltime during those months, with a season that may end quickly)

• Class 5 (Non-GDL) Driver’s License
• Agricultural background
• Living in and around Taber, Bow Island, Grassy Lake or Vauxhall
