SUMMARY:National Philanthropy Day - Flag Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:With Canada leading the way by being the first nation to formalize a day of recognition for charitable works\, and Lethbridge (YQL) being named as one of Alberta's most charitable cities\, it's no wonder that this calls for a celebration! The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce is working together with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Southern Alberta Chapter and the City of Lethbridge\, to celebrate National Philanthropy Day for the week of November 14th November 17th\, 2017.\n\n \n\nOur business community is very instrumental in the growth and development of our city. A local business may see a need for a place where disabled people can connect with nature and participate in learning new skills\; then by giving of their time and resources\, the business creates a Garden for Growth. A need may be identified in support of a new community structure so funding is gifted. A small business may notice senior residents who are physically and financially unable to paint their fences or home exteriors\, and as a business team\, don on their paint gear and go to work! These are only a few examples of the generosity that can be found in our amazing business community.\n\n \n\nSome of the visible signs of celebration during the week will be:\n\n Lights on City Hall from November 14th 17th\n Flag raising ceremony on November 15th 10:00am and flags throughout the city for the week\n Non-Profit banners in City Hall from Nov 15th 16th\n Electronic business signs bearing a message of thanks\n Numerous social media stories shared on #ThanksYQL\n\nLocal businesses and non-profit organizations are invited to join in the celebration by saying #ThanksYQL.
